PvP – Learning the Ropes

PvP. For some, Player vs. Player, is the game. Others, like myself, consider it a side-show at best. Lately I’ve decided to change my attitude toward it. I’m going to take it seriously. I’m going to get good.
“You never get good, you only get better gear.” Said a guild mate while I bashed away at it my first day. We’ll see how true his statement holds. As you can see from this screen shot, my chosen character has never entered a single warzone. I’ll be doing this from scratch.

I reserved myself to one fact starting out. I’m going to get crushed. Many, many times while gearing up. So I set out with ZERO expertise.
My first game was a 5 medal win, not a victory, but I came away feeling good about the Pyrotech talent tree. Medium range abilities with a decent long rang spam for keeping the pressure on. The trio of DoTs is nice. I can fire and forget, then pound away with my blaster. My grapple is good for annoying healers, and I have taunts to help with player defense. All around I am gonna stick with the class, but there’s plenty of room for improvement.
After about 3 warzones I got tired of being made of tissue paper. I headed over to the vendor to see if there was a purchase I could make. Well wouldn’t you know there’s a vendor that takes credits! I’ve written guides on PvE by the dozen, guess it shows how much I check out the PvP wing eh?

There’s another reason I want to get good at PvP. I call The Bastion home, it’s a rough place, and I’m tired of getting stomped out in open world PvP. I want to enter zones hunting, not being (Read more...)
